Default Starter Help

I ruined my starter mudding. Truck sat in 3-4 feet of water for a few hours. Only clicked... got it going once but it stalled trying to get out. Now its 1 click and that's it.

Will a starter from any Dakota work or do I need to find same year/engine combo?

Thanks. I'm in the middle of no where really screwed up.

Cheers

Looking at Rockauto, in '02 the 3.9 and 5.9's interchange.

Some of the 4.7 starters will, if the 4.7 is a manual.

Thanks Dan.

Also found out I got water in my tranny and its a solid 2-3 inches above the Max mark.

Probably a good thing it ain't running right now.

Will be changing the oil in everything when I get home. I got the truck started using a car start and it would idle but it wouldn't start back up after.

I'm hoping to change the oil here and make it home then take it to a shop and have them flush the tranny.

Hopefully she'll survive.

Replaced the starter and still nothing. No clicks or whines dead silence.

Power is getting to the starter but it won't even spin.

Really need help here. I checked the fuses and relays And all looks good. Battery has power. Wiring looks good.

What next? I'm desperate thanks.

Any chance your engine could have sucked in water and it's hydrolocked? That happened to me once when I had a similar experience with my Blazer (got stuck in a river). I had to take out the spark plugs and crank it over to clear out the cylinders. Luckily, there was no damage.
