'00 Dakota QC, 2 wheel drive, 5 speed auto, 4.7, original owner for 13 yrs. Installed fiberglas Tonneau cover when new. Now has 209,6xx miles. At 98,000, began Mobil1 5w30, w/ Mobil Filter M1-204, changed every 5,000 to 6,000 miles. Proactive tire changes with Michelins at 40,000 regardless of tire wear gauge. Filled tires w/ nitrogen and just forget about leakage! Never failed local EPA inspections. All-driving gasoline mileage is about 18 mpg, with 20 mpg into the mountains north. My occupation as a catastrophe insurance damage appraiser, required high mileage to hurricane areas in Florida, Louisiana and Texas, where vehicle dependability was a must. My Dakota has never given me any major mechanical problems, but only recently developed routine maintenance issues for which I now search the Dodge Forums for tips on successful repair methods. Thanks to all the forum posts concerning my worn out fan clutch and the occasional overheating (due to clogged radiator(s)) One dealer replaced 3 radiators at just under 20,000 miles each, due to their choice of red colored anti-freeze! That dealer went out of business. I'm not a mechanic, thus I pay someone else to service my vehicles. But, I like to keep in the loop as to the origins of mechanical problems.

98 dakota 3.9 auto, It reads 286000, but it's actually higher. I think when the speed sensor went out, it stopped counting the miles. If that's the case, it's probably over 300,000. Aside from standard maintenance, had entire front end replaced, front wheel bearings, starter, and everything that the drive belt wraps around. It needs some new suspension front and back, and body panels, and maybe engine is getting a little worn, but it's good ole' reliable, for now.
