$150.00 Sound System....
Yeah I hear you; I got rid of mine too; I miss the bass but then again I never really tweaked anything when i removed my bass.. so there is a lack in the lower end to make it sound decent.. but I'm working on it.
I kept my amp though; just under the back seat now.

I guess my priorities have changed now that I bought a house. I have way too much other stuff to do now besides fool around with car audio. Right now I don't miss the slammin' system I had before but you never know, once I get my house fixed up the way my wife and I want it, the car audio bug could bite me again..My deck and speakers system sounds very good to me for now and I don't really feel a need to change it. I have too many other things to spend my time and money on....

I have a question about the affinity amp, I have every thing wired correctly with a Scoshe kit. I noticed that my balances are opposite. No biggie as I have it set to center.
Is the polarity to the speakers goin to be opposite also , I s the speakers Imploding in stead of exploding????

One last update here...I found out my new Sony deck will only recognize 142 files on a single flash drive. I had 314 files/bands on that 32GB flash drive all in alphabetical order. The deck would only recognize and play A thru J..If I had known that I would not have bought the deck, I would have stepped up to the $130.00 Sony, it recognizes up to 10,000 songs on a single flash drive.
So......I had to split the remaining MP3's up between two additional flash drives. I bought PNY flash drives, got them at Walmart yesterday, 2 in a pack for $16.97. One is red, the other is a dark blue and they both stick out a little further than the 32GB flash drive I bought from Amazon. I need to get used to a blue flash drive on a red/black radio face but this was a cheaper alternative to buying a new deck. I do not want a new deck and do not need to spend more money on a new deck.
I also learned that if you have an MP3/AAC/FLAC/OGG or whatever kind of music file, you have to keep the same bit rate or go lower when you copy it to a flash drive as an MP3 or it will sound like crap. You can not take a 128kbps MP3 and turn it into a "better sounding" 256 or 320kbps file. You can take a 256kbps MP3 and convert it to 128, I did that with some of my songs and do not really notice any difference.
So if anyone is looking at the same Sony deck, or any other deck, it might be good to check its USB capabilities and specs if you have a lot of songs in your library. I have over 5,000. I pared it down to about 3,400. It really is not much trouble to change out a flash drive as I am driving, and the different colored flash drives do indicate to me which bands/albums are on which flash drive. Now the last thing I need to do is go into each flash drive and number the songs with leading zero's, like the first one is 01, next is 02, next is 03 and so on. On a lot of the MP3 albums I numbered the songs beginning with single digits 1,2,3 etc. That causes the deck to not read and play back the songs in sequential order. See what I mean about car audio problems? That should be the last thing I need to do.
None of this is reason enough for me to ditch the Sony deck. It all sounds great and is easy to use while driving. Maybe I might look at new decks next year, there really are no decks right now that I would buy anyway and I do not want to install any new deck in my dash. I am trying to get done with car audio troubles.
Just wanted to post this about the MP3 file read specs, just in case anyone was looking at the same Sony deck or some other lower-price deck. I guess if Sony made the cheap deck read that many files there would not be much reason for someone to buy the more expensive deck.

Well I guess I spoke too soon. That $90.00 Sony deck did sound good for a while, until a few days ago. Something happened to the equalizer in it. The built-in eq curves still worked but the user-programmable eq just stopped working. And all of the eq curves had real problems in the high frequency ranges, the speakers would make these bad screeching sounds and the highs from the speakers were very distorted and sounded like an old AM radio. I had also done a little research on my dead Ipod, I did the system restore on it and re-synced it and it seemed to work again and sound OK so I started using it in my truck again a couple weeks ago. I did not like having to use 3 separate little flash drives to hold my new MP3 library so I returned the flash drives I bought at Walmart. All was well with the Ipod until last week when the deck went bad. I don't know if the deck killed the Ipod or the Ipod killed the deck but it all sounded like crap.
I still have my little 32 GB mini flash drive with about 3,600 songs on it. I debated about buying one of the more expensive Sony decks, they will read up to 10,000 files on a flash drive. Best Buy will not refund, exchange or even give a store credit on the bad cheap Sony deck, so I have to send it to Sony and get it exchanged or repaired under warranty. When I get it back I will ebay it or put it on Craigs List and get rid of it. I also did not want to take a chance on another Sony deck having the same or worse problems. I debated a lot and did a lot of research trying to find a good deck that did not cost a lot and would play my entire flash drive.
I bought this new Pioneer DEH-5600HD deck from Advance:

I didn't buy it from Crutchfield though. Advance sells the same deck for $110.00. I used one of their 40% discount codes, paid online and got it for $70.00. I installed it yesterday, here it is in my dash:

This new deck is new in the Pioneer line but I sure wish I could have bought it instead of that Sony. It sounds great, has a lot better bass, is easier to use and it is louder with better sound quality and just a fatter sound than the Sony had. This one has HD Radio but I have not used it yet. It also has a light flashing gimmick that goes with the beat of the music, I won't use that but I guess it's a cool idea. The deck also has adjustable lighting to match my dash lights. It has bigger buttons than the Sony did and they are laid out better. So far it's a great deck, I like it a lot. It plays my flash drive fine (up to 15,000 songs) and I got a real good discount on it. It also matches up with the Pioneer 6 1/12's very well, they sound awesome together. I sure hope this is the final step in finding the right deck for my truck.

Ive got a ram now but had a dakota and pretty much transplanted the stereo from the dakota to the ram, My system is kinda of more of a midrange lazy *** guys install. Plus or minus a few upgrades done to newer tech, I had alpine S series speakers, I cut the sheet metal in the front to fit 6x9s, The rear I installed 6.5" rounds. I recommend a spacer that pushes the speaker against the panel.
