If you can take the TV cable out, you might put it in a used oil bath. Take some oil oil in the recycle container or something, borrow a frying pan (while the misses is away, ideally), and make an oil bath.

We use giant clear tupperware storage containers for working on the camaro. Makes for easy sifting to find metal flakes.

so are you keeping the rotating assembly from both spare engines to make a spare using your good block and pistons, and the other motor's crank and rods? I'd be interested to see how the V6 crank is actually done, with the narrowed rod journals.

I'll be taking both to the scrapper once I save a few parts off my old engine... sorry Magnet! Heads would likely be garbage in my engine too. I did have it running with a spun crank bearing knock for quite a while.

Well guys...

My worst nightmare became my reality.

SLapped the wheels back on, got a temporary insurance grant, threw her in drive and then I came to my first stop sign...

Transmission still refuses to downshift to first gear.

I replaced the governor sensor and solenoid since it was throwing a code for it and that didn't fix it. Tried a new TV cable since my old one was binding and that didn't fix it either.

My options are:

1) Manually downshift to first every time
2) Bite the bullet and drive it till it dies.
3) Get a tranny flush and hope for the best.

Only code I'm getting is p0158 and thats for my right downstream o2 sensor...

No luck here boys.

sure the throttle body is on right?

From the FSM:

NO KICKDOWN OR NORMAL DOWNSHIFT
1. Throttle Linkage Mis-adjusted.
2. Accelerator Pedal Travel Restricted.
3. Valve Body Hydraulic Pressures Too High or Too Low Due to Valve Body Malfunction or Incorrect Hydraulic Control Pressure Adjustments.
4. Governor Circuit Electrical Fault.
5. Valve Body Malfunction.
6. TPS Malfunction.
7. PCM Malfunction.
8. Valve Body Malfunction.

Since you can manually downshift fine, that tells me it's in the valve body. Get some gauges put on the test ports.

Open up the power distribution box in the engine compartment. Check the relay labeled Cooling Fan. Switch it with the one that's labeled A/C.

See if this helps.

Yeah Brian, how does that affect my transmission?

I'll have to figure out how I test these ports you speak of... what kind of gauge do I need to buy?

a trans shop will know what to do. The gauges should be able to read up to 800-1000 PSI. The test ports are on the side of the case.
