Are 00 and 02 Dakota engine interchangeable

Would I have to do the same stuff if I got a 00 Durango engine for the 02 Dakota?

Yes. The Durango is just the Dakota with an enclosed rear and more seats (if you get the 7 seater). Driveline is the same
