Wore out as in the pins were loose in the hole. The heli coil takes it back down to the original size. Heli coli was like 39.00(6 coils,1 tap and drill bit) then the original bolts were 2 or 3 a piece I think

M9 x 1.25 right?

What size is the drill bit and tap? bigger than the oversized threads?

How many time did you re-use the oversize before they came loose enough to replace?

I'm not sure as they were on the truck when I bought it. I used them 3 or 4 times

Correct drill bit size is .3680(in between 23/64 and 3/8s) heli coil kit is m9x1.25

I say just keep using them

I don't like the Heli coli thing as if you drill out the hole off by just a little then everything binds on you and you are now in need of a new knuckle.

Who can say they can drill straight by hand...?...? anyone?

As long as they feel snug they are ok

I've done so many heli coils by hand and never once had a problem. Drilling it isnt the hard part. Getting the tap straight and make sure its prefect is the hard part.

Got it done. Was able to re-use them. Next brake change will def have to have at least 1 of them heli-coiled. It snugged down, but I didn't like how it felt coming out or going in, those first 2 threads where the taper is greatest. Once it was past those, it was tight.
