If it were me, I would go ahead and get it with the reservoir, less chance of leaking if you don't get the o-ring in there just right. But, in searching a couple of places for ps pumps for your vehicle, I don't see any replacements offfered with a reservoir. I moved this to the 2nd gen Dakota technical section so it would get more visibility.

If you end up using the old unit, just make sure that the little mesh screen at the bottom of the reservoir is not clogged. When I swapped my PS fluid over to ATF, I shot some brake cleaner at the screen and let it flow out through the lines which I had disconnected at the rack. As long as that's clean, I don't see a difference between new or old.

Yeah I didn't find any pumps that came with the reservoir until I went and got a brand new Mopar pump, and that was because every after market pump I tried whined. To be honest the Mopar one (which is like $350) whines too, although less than the aftermarket's.

Let me know if you have a whine too when you're done. I've tried everything to get rid of it, don't waste your time or money, it's just there.

Also is there any problems that I can run into in this project? I am pretty shure ik what to do take radiator cover off that holds the coolant and take front belt of then unbolt and drain the power steering pump is that all?

I swapped mine a year ago because of a leak in the reservoir. Really was straight forward, disconnected the battery, remove the accessory belt, detached the hoses to the pump drained it out, detached the main coolant hose (the one with the cap), with a wrench and ratchet wrench w/ extension unbolted the three bolts. Took me 3 hours in the cold, cramped garage with breaks. That really is all I remember of the swap, hope it helps.

So will I have to drain coolant and washer fluid? And would it be the pump that's not working on mine or resavore? Bc it is getting all over engine from leaking on belt and splashing every where!

Washer fluid reservoir is on the fan shroud and its best to move that so yes to the washer fluid.

I don't see why you would have to drain any coolant. Even if you removed the upper rad hose you would have minimal coolant loss but I think you should have room.

IIRC, the only reason why Black would have removed the hose is because the bracket supporting the rad cap used the power steering bump bolts. I'm pretty sure you can get away without disconnecting it.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't read before posting... I'm not sure how the 4.7 is laid out. I'm imagining the 3.9/5.2.
