Just purchased 04 Dakota. When first start airbag light comes on after approx. 3 seconds. Cant remember exact wording but scanner says passenger side airbag ground to short...any ideas where and what to look for?thanks LT

 

do the controls on steering wheel (cruise control) work? if not probably the clockspring is bad. not too bad to change

 

What body style? Do you have the airbag "off" switch?

Look under the dash for the yellow harnesses. They are the airbags. Be careful when doing anything with the system.

If it is passenger side, it won't be clock spring. But if you have the airbag off switch, I would start there. You can peel the dash back if you open the ashtray andnpull at the upper fascia. Its not screwed in around the radio or HVAC controls, just pull. It is screwed in around the gauges. You should be able to look behind and make sure its plugged in.
