Default Help need information on trans swap ASAP!

I need to know if a 2001dodge ram 1500 nv 3500 4x4 with the 5.2 (318 will bolt up to a 1997 dodge dakota 5.2 (318) it's also a 4x4 but has auto transmission! Will they swap? I don't care for power connectors and stuff I'll so that later but will it bolt up and work? Need to know ASAP

They should bolt up directly - but...
I've heard of some 5.2's that weren't drilled for the pilot bearing.

How would I find out if mines drilled out or not before I go into buying the Manuel transmission?

I get it, you have a '97 and want to make it a 5 speed using the '01 tranny.

You have to pull the transmission to verify the dimensions. Use an inside micrometer to measure. It may not be drilled to the correct diameter. Then take that measurement to your parts place and see if they have a bearing (or bushing) to fit.

According to Rockauto, manual transmissions were offered in 97. RockAuto list a bunch of Pilot bearings that they'll sell you. I think that you may need to pull the motor to find out, tho.

I can't imagine that the Big C didn't drill the crank for a pilot bearing--but hey, they have done some pretty unexplainable things, right?

Exactly they were offering a nv3500 in the Dodge Dakota's with a 5.2 so I'm hoping that I don't have to take And have my crank worked on to fit a pilot bearing i'm hoping I can just pull my automatic transmission out and put the manual in the nv3500 in but I need the pedals and entire clutch and flywheel and longer driveshafts will I also have to move my trans crossmember?
