Has anybody ever found a poly transmission mount for a second gen? My stock mount is broken (again) and I'm tired of my transfer case banging into the bottom of my floor when I get on the gas too hard. I'm kinda hoping to find something a little stronger than the standard "Made in Bangladesh" crap all the auto parts stores carry. Not to mention that changing it repeatedly is getting kind of expensive.

The one from a same-vintage Jeep TJ looks like it might work, but I can't find the bolt patterns listed anywhere. Anybody have a TJ they can measure? Or maybe somebody has a source for the right mount.

Tom, have you seen if the Cherokee has a poly mount avaliable? They'd have the 42RE, which uses the same tail mount as the 44 and 46 I believe...

 

Only problem is that I have an NV3500.

 

ah. I'd say find one for the trans and make something for the crossmember side.

I don't get it. I see like a bazillion Dakotas everywhere, yet they have *******ly zero aftermarket support. I enjoy a challenge as much as anybody, but having to make everything yourself gets old after a while.

Anyway, I think I might go to the parts store and take some measurements off a stock Jeep mount (assuming they have one in stock), then buy the poly one if it looks like it will work.

Any NV3500 in a chrysler chassis can't be too far different...

 

I have some of those energy suspension trannie mounts. When the time comes to do the engine (soon) I'm planning on adapting the xmember & mount on the trannie to use them.

They ARE better quality, and I DO have some of them sitting in a drawer, or box, etc.

My problem isn't trannie mounts, it's engine mounts. The aftermarket ones for the gen 1 4wd seem to be made out of toothpaste, or dried pasta, or something not suitable for automotive use. They just don't last worth a s h i t.

 

Which tranny mount do you have? The one I'm talking about? Would you mind measuring the bolt patterns (top and bottom) so I can see how close they are?
