Default 2000 Dakota lift kit

Hi I drive a 2000 Dakota slt v6 and have been wanting to lift it for a while and I was wondering if I should get a suspension lift or a body lift. Which would be faster to have installed and which would be cheaper?

I think Rancho was the only suspension lift made, but they were discontinued long ago.

torsion bar crank and maybe 2" block in the rear will be decent, maybe go with 3" body lift and 33s should clear easily...

Body lift is relatively cheap and will give you a "real" three inches of added tire clearance. Torsion bar crank and blocks (like 44dakota said) will give close to the same amount, but may affect ride quality and wear out front end components faster, plus the tires may still hit the fenders when the suspension compresses.

Do you know about how much it would cost to get a 3in body lift installed

The kit itself is around $250 and it probably takes roughly eight hours to install. Around here, the labor rate is like $120 an hour, so that's a pretty expensive proposition to have it installed.

It's not terribly difficult to do yourself if you have some tools, some mechanical ability, and one or two friends to help you.

Body lift can be done in a day even if you've never done it before.

Help of a friend is preferred, and you can get it done with basic tools.

What about blocks in the rear and torsion keys up front? Has anyone done something as simple and cheap as this? Blocks are 35 bucks and torsion keys are about 90. My buddy did it to his dakota years ago, I was there and what I remember torsion keys ere the hardest to set. But we got them in and a couple beers before the sun went down

Imo $90 keys is a waste of $90.
Yes, some people buy them and crank up they're truck.
Others just crank the stock keys to the same effect.
I know I can crank till I hit the bump stops with my stock keys so buying new keys to accomplish the same thing is a waste.
Im running 33x12.5x15 with stock keys and no rear block added.
I touch the body in rear of wheel well but clearanced it with a knife. Only touches the plastic.
Biggest is they hit the frame. Front of tires when turned.
Keys will not help this.
3" BL and offset wheels will help that.
But they dont hit enough for me to make a big rush of that. But it is annoying.
