Seemless steel tubing of various diameters and wall thickness.
Or Chromoly but that's rare unless its a race application and special order.
Or aluminum if that's what's required.

What the heck would you build them out of?
Majority of our shafts are just steel.

Btw, this is a topic about his driveshaft. Get back on topic.

Not 500.00 to tow. 180.00 to tow. 75.00-100.00 to make adjustments. 130.00 for a new rear yoke. 99.00 an hour in labor. 3-4hrs max. Chicago driveline is #1 in the state for making driveshafts and repairing trucks. After figuring out what an OEM driveshaft length is. I calculated that I am an Inch and half to two inches off. On a stock driveshaft for my vehicle WtW 57.5 UtoU 62.75. The one i got made is 58.75 wtw and UtoU is 63.25. Going back next week to get it shortened. Just was asking if someone with the same vehicle as mine could give me an estimated measurement because apparently the 40 measures i made from UtoU yoke to yoke. tail shaft to pinion gear. was 1.5-2 inches off. Have rear yoke on order. only paid 75.00 for new one. new shaft was 250.00. and rather lay on my back with a beer installing it. then paying some shop to rape me in bull****.

Well I'm glad you got it figured out.
Drives a guy nuts don't it?
Race ya when you get the new shaft. Lol.
You'll most likely win so I'm going to owe you a beer.

So got the new shaft new yoke new u-joints on the shaft. installed it all took it for a ride Perfect! But... When i coasted i heard a weird metal ticking noise from underneath. When i inspected where it was coming from the ticking clicking noise was coming from the transfer case. Put my 99 dakota 5.2 4x4 on jacks started it up and put in gear. ticking noise coming from rear cover on transfer case. Checked T-case fluid was brownish so drained and changed with new fluid. ticking/clicking noise is still there. Im guessing Chain or bearing?

May have slightly bent output shaft, or done some minor bearing damage, when the driveshaft got spit out going down the road...... thats alot weight to be slinging around on that shaft and bearing when the u joint went...... try adding some lucas to the oil, and see if that helps.... if it's a bearing it might quiet down.... hows the seal where the shaft goes in?? seems that would have gotten tore up when the shaft came out, may not have, but you never know..... in my 14 years of working on cars, ive seen some weird crap, lol.
