Default SOL! With trying to find the right Driveshaft

I have a 99 dakota. ext cab. 5.2, 4wd. 9.25 rear-end. Broke a u-joint on the front slip yoke
shot my driveshaft out the back flying across the highway off the bridge into who knows. Tried online dealers, Called almost every junkyard in Illinois indiana wisconsin michigan trying to find one. Ebay didnt have one or had different measurements from mine. All the out of state junkyards that claim they have one want 200.00+ for them and 50.00 shipping. Driveline custom shafts. said they'll make one for 245.00 if i have the right measurements. So...
Need to get a custom driveshaft since the dealer discontinued them. Did a few
measurements from yoke to yoke and tail shaft to pinion gear but want to be 100% sure
before going to the shop to have one made. Anyone know what the measurement roughly is?

Nobody knows the actual measurement of your truck but you.
Measure from tailshaft to center of rear yolk.
That's all you'll need.

No driveshaft shops local?

A driveshaft shop can make it from your measurements.

Just wondering if someone with the same vehicle can measure theirs. Got one made measured from tail shaft to almost end of pinion gear. came out to 63.75 they made it 62.75. Tried it and its too long. its 50.00 to 75.00 each time i have to bring it back for resizing. measured about 40 times came up with the same measurement. maybe a 1/4 off here and there.

So the problem is not an inability to find a used one. It's to find one at the right price? I would choose used OEM over custom even at the same price.

this. The prices you are looking at are bargains....Also, make sure you are measuring correctly. Best way is to have a bear yoke on the back of the trans, and measure U joint to U joint. Measuring U joint to the output shaft will throw you off so many ways it aint funny.

This shouldn't be a hard thing. It's not rocket science.
$500 to tow it in? Wtf? Somebody's on crack.

OEM vs Custom? So wtf is the difference?
We build driveshafts at work daily.

How are you making this so difficult?
One measurement.
Your shop is being retarded or your measuring completely wrong.

You've got a slip yoke into your trans?
You have a yoke bolted to the diff?
Don't shove the slip in tight. Don't even use it for measuring.
Measure from end of spline to face of yoke.
Face being where the ujoint straps bolt too.
This is so easy I don't see how its not finished.
