Default Overdrive solenoid.

Cheapest place to buy the solenoids for the 42re? my overdrive is acting up again, and i payed 89 bucks for my overdrive solenoid last time. anywhere cheaper?

Rockauto.com has one for 42 bucks from Standard Motor Products but it looks different than OEM.

They also have another for 84 also made by Standard, which looks like OEM.

Likely all around that price.

Look for one on Ebay.

If you're putting a second one in, maybe getting the cheapest isn't the best idea, tho. These things should last the life of your transmission.

well i tell you its the damnedest thing, i replaced it when i got the truk, and then all of the sudden i lost it again. and now, i have a tapping that sounds like it's coming from behind the engine/front of the tranny. it sounds like a lifter, but its not. im confused as S*** at this.

I hope thats not the reason why you are wanting to replace this. Id personally get one from a tranny shop. They do fail at times but not too often. Had to do one on our 42re in our grand cherokee. Cant remember the price but got it done at the tranny shop for 283 out the door. That was for both the gov pressure sensor and the solenoid. Didnt seem bad and had 3 month/5k warranty

Pop your convertor shield off. Sounds like a loose convertor bolt.
