3.78 is too low. A good tps should read between 4.5 to 5 volts with the throttle wide open. Also check for a steady smooth increase in voltage as you open the throttle. If it is erratic and has a lot of variance in volts the tps may be bad. For what it might be worth the tps from an auto parts store should be fine. Mine came from Autozone. I think I paid $45.00 for it with a coupon. It works fine.

Well, just to update.... the problem returned a few days ago but I had already ordered a MOPAR TPS, part # 5017479AA. Got it for $61 shipped on e-bay. Installed it yesterday and the idle is now smooth again. Also noticed that the truck accelerates with a smoother, more linear feel... less bucking. I'm hoping this is the fix.

I measured the voltage on the new TPS and found that hi/low voltages were the exact same as the old one - .6V to 3.78V. Found a few sites online that state that this is normal voltage. However, I definitely feel a difference with the new unit.

Time will tell.

So I finally got around to popping the hood on my truck today after running it until it got warm enough for eradic idle. Where is the IAC? Is the the circular looking thing mounted under my TPS? When I tap the housing next to it with a screwdriver, the roughness goes away. 4.7, by the way
