Default 04 Dakota infinity system specs

The infinity speakers in my Dakota went to crap so I bought some kicker speakers to replace them with. After installation, there is static that plays under the music, when the music gets quiet the static becomes more pronounced. I think it might be that the new speakers are more sensitive than the old ones. Does anyone know the sensitivity of the infinity speakers? If it is not the sensitivity what else could it be?

More likely the OEM Infinity amp is going bad or there may be a problem with the OEM radio. Your new speakers have much better high end response than the original speakers and are better able to reproduce the static noise. Try this test, play a cd and put it on pause. Then turn the volume **** up higher. If the static gets louder you may have a bad radio. If it stays the same volume you may need a new amp. Most likely the radio is bad because usually static problems like that can come from bad volume controls or bad outputs in the radio. You can replace the radio with an aftermarket one and still use the Infinity amp. It will sound good that way.

Try it with the engine OFF as well as with it running. You might also be picking up electrical noise from the alternator or a bad ground.

How many ohms are your new speakers?

No, it shouldn't be a problem you're very close.

I removed and bypassed the amp, put Kicker speakers in, and a JVC head unit and it sounds great.
