Default 98 Dakota 4x4 brake controller

I just bought a Hopkins electric trailer brake controller and a matching plug in and go Hopkins plug set. I looked under the dash but couldn't find where it plugs in, does anyone know where the plug would be located. Truck has a Mopar 4 flat trailer wire at the back and a Mopar receiver so I guess it came with the towing package. Just bought a trailer with brakes and want to get it working. Thanks

Trailer brakes wont work with a 4 pin connector you need a 7 pin and will have to run your wires. I got a 7 plug online that plugged into my 4 pin and then all you had to run was power and trailer brake wires.

This is the one I got.

I don't believe you have the trailer tow package. That includes a 7 pin plug and the connector for the brake controller.

You could run a build sheet, there is a sticky on how to do it. That'd tell you for sure.

dodgeramguy That is the same plug that I bought and my lights work fine now, seems I'll just have to "cut and splice" the wires. Plug and play sure would have been nice.

Thanks to all for the info.
