Question What is this sound?

This is a follow up to an earlier thread I had https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...g-coolant.html

The truck sounded pretty smooth before the head gasket job. When I picked it up from the mechanic it now makes a horrible ticking sound after it warms up. Does not sound this bad when started cold. The mechanic believes it's the timing chain tensioner. I tend to believe him as he worked on it and probably knows he screwed something up. Here is the youtube link let me know what you all think...

Can you pinpoint where it is the loudest? On the video it seems faint near the timing cover and louder by cylinder 2.

Pull the valve cover and check. I wouldn't be running it like that for long.

It's really hard to tell where it's coming from. It sounds pretty good when first started and does not start making the noise until it's warmed up to operating temperature. I'm not sure if that's a clue or not.

I'd be taking it back to the mechanic and saying "It didn't do this before, find it and fix it."

He's going to fix it. I'm just hoping it's what he thinks it is...

use a long screwdriver, and place it against the timing cover, and put your ear to the handle (piece of hose works too, but harder to thread in) then do the same on the valve cover, will tell you where it's coming from

Im thinking the mechanic will find something and will say its not his fault and your going to pay.
Interesting to see how this plays out.

I stopped by the parts store on the way home today and they let me borrow a stethoscope. I have to tell you it sure did sound like it was coming from the secondary timing chain on the passenger side. I know the mechanic was quick to say he thought it was the timing chain tensioner probably because he knew he screwed it up! I sure hope that's it! I'm going to drop the truck off next week for him to work on it while I'm at vacation....
