This is my first technical post to the dak section and hopefully it's an easy one. So the issue is, there is a little light under the dash that lights up the cup holders and little cubby hole thing, and that little tiny bulb burnt out. Does anyone know the bulb number or know where I can get one? I;ve tried google but to no avail

 

I'm still trying to figure out how to get to it….

 

Theres a little vertical door on the underside of the dash thats held in place with a tab. Undo that and the little door will come down. From there, there is a black cover held in place with a clip. Undo the clip so the cover can come off and viola! There's the bulb

 

According to the cross reference at SuperBrightLEDS.COM - the ash tray light is a 194.

That sounds about right, too.

OTOH, the easiest is to pull it and walk into the parts store and say "I need one like this that actually works." *grins*

194 is too big of a bulb. I know that for a fact. If I can find a 194 somewhere, I'll post a picture of the size difference. Its just a tiny little thing. But I'll probably have to suck up my pride and go to the parts store and sound dumb...

 

Exactly where under the dash? I've never noticed a light there so mine must be out too. Can you take a pic?

It's a # 74. If you look close on the top of the cover there is a little clip that holds it in. Depress that and the whole assembly comes out. Another cover on the back side of the assembly comes off and the bulb just slides into the prongs. I got mine at NAPA for like .50 apiece or something like that.

 

This must be a feature on the older daks. I've looked up under the dash on my 03' and I see nothing. I also don't have an ash tray.

My '00 doesn't have the light either but I do have an ash tray.
