Default Problem starting 98 Dakota

I recently just changed my spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, battery and today the battery terminals. Truck wouldn't start this morning, and if I hit the gas while trying the ignition it will click a few times but never fully turn on. Any feedback would be great.

Is it turning over or not? If not, your battery is probably dead.

Make sure you didn't mix up the wires on the distributor. Verify the firing order.

I'm assuming you mean it will not turn over.

Battery cables on correct positive to positive so on if you put them on reversed damage may of happened... not good.

Went and replaced fuel pump relay sensor, now it will turn over and idle. But as soon as I stop giving it gas it stalls out and the oil pressure drops but all the other meters stay put.

Okay I cleaned out the IAC and I still have to give it gas in order for the truck to run, otherwise it just stalls out.
My next guess is clogged fuel filter, TPS, MAP sensor, vacuum leak or some other electrical issue. Any help/advice is much appreciated!

Check the battery, have it load tested.

Dakota's HATE weak batteries and may not keep running or you'll need to give it gas to keep it running.

Why did you change the battery out in the first place?

When you say "click a few times" do you mean the starter relay is clicking? If it isn't the battery, and a new battery can be bad, you could have a bad ground. What kind of terminals did you use? Are they the ones that clamp onto the cable like in the attached picture?

Can you check for codes?

The key dance may not work on a '98 but give it a a try. With the key OFF, turn it to RUN (don't start the truck), then OFF, back to RUN, then OFF, then leave it in RUN. Codes will display in the odometer window. It'll show P DONE when complete.

It might save a lot of time and money pulling the codes.

The fuel filter is in the tank, part of the pump assembly. You don't want to change that unless you have to. Check the fuel pressure. You can borrow/rent a fuel pressure gauge at most auto part stores. It should be about 49 psi.
