97 318 5.2 spitt sputter backfire died help
I have a 97 dodge Dakota sport 4x4 with the 318 I was driving home from work the truck felt like the engine missed then began to spit and sputter and back fire till it finally died
I did the manual dodge check engine it brought up codes 24 and 25 the tps and the aic valve they are both new they were both installed correctly and the full tune up plugs wire cap rotor new crank sensor new pick up sensor in the distributer im still backfiring its driving me mad crazy
yep still around. have had family trouble. my son killed himself. on sept 10. while i was moving in to my moms home. she has Alzheimer's and iam having to take care of her. but some very good friends have helped me a lot. for got to add this. Mopar dist cap wiring
My dad made this saying about chrysler V8 small and big block dist cap wireing. To reduce wiring confuseion. “the small block has the dist in the wrong place, in the back of the engine. BUT the shaft rotates the right way clockwise. The big block has the dist in the right place, in the front of the engine BUT the shaft rotates the wrong direction counterclockwise. Both wire #5 and #7 on both ALL ways have #5 before #7 on the cap AND block. And most / some stock V8s have the fireing order cast in to the intake manifold. And if the cap has a vent hole DO plug the hole. JB-weld works good for that
