Yes, they do visually check. And it matters just as much with his truck as any other. Please don't give him bad advice.

They never checked my Dakota lived in California 45 years

By the way he already installed them Tom so it has nothing to do with me think as you like but the blame if any is on the owner.

Read it

Your Dakota just screams check my Dak I may be illegal if you get my drift.

Yikes its simple think it through if your auto looks massively all jacked up modified they will check you out like crazy if you look like just any old auto they do the test and if you pass great.

If you pass SMOG that is what matters

Besides I already know two California owners that run with these Banks systems they have passed.

I go through almost 100 smog checks a year for work (on stock vehicles). Every one of them gets a thorough visual check. Just speaking from my experience.

It just seem so unfair that this vehicle with the same engine will not be allowed
to have this add on or modified part. I'm hoping that it is different, county to
county on how smog shop approach.

This morning I went to 3 different smog shop and 1 out of three said yes,
they'll do it. For as long as it is the same engine. The other said to talk to
the referees and said they may pass it the way it is. So, I called the Bureau
of Automotive to make an appointment with them this month.
My registration is not due till September, but, better safe than sorry.
