The option code is DSA. You might see anti-spin or something similar. Ask the owner, he should know.
To do it right the timing cover would need to come off. You can't access the 3 chains otherwise. I don't know the cost.

Check for excessive play in the rack-n-pinion.
My 98 2wd w/251k has worn rack.

Are you sure it's the rack? A more common problem is the intermediate shaft.

I'm not for certain. A mechanic took a quick look and diagnosed it.
I need to look myself. After it gets warmer outside!

Thats way over priced for the miles, even if they are all "highway" miles.
