Could a bad catalytic converted cause this? i noticed something is rattling around inside of it its pretty loud i am down to 3 things ether bad crank sensor,Converter, or the distributor is off but i called the guy i bought it from said a dealer installed it but that means nothing I am getting spark and fuel to all cylinders also fixed the rpm gauge found a broken wire.

A dealer installed the distributor? They would have set the fuel sync - should of anyways.

A bad converter can restrict the exhaust and cause a misfire. You can check backpressure with a vacuum gauge. It'll also help determine the condition of the engine.

I'm wondering about the valve timing. If it's off you'll have poor performance.

On the cam and crank sensor, if they aren't OEM DODGE, replace them again.

Lots of aftermarket sensors, for lack of a better term, SUCK.

There is a mark on each sprocket.

With the timing mark on the bottom of the top sprocket, line it up with the mark on the top of the bottom sprocket.

You have the timing cover off, right?

They should line up, all the time.
