Default Transmission being swapped need maintenance advice

I'm having a shop do a transmission swap. While it's out is there anything I should perform maintenance to due to the accessibility.

How are your freeze plugs? There are some on the back that are only accessible with the tranny removed.

Check the u-joints too.

I do have one on the side leaking. I seen a kit that contains brass freeze plugs are those supposed to be better? I will also inspect the U joint thanks for the help.

Yes. Brass won't rust.

Still, steel plugs should last quite a while if you maintain the cooling system.

Get a pan with a drain plug. Last I saw, Advance had one for cheap... Dorman brand. That way you can do the best maintenance of draining it every 30K or so. Don't know which tranny you have. It has a spin on filter, get the Mopar, because it has an anti-drain back valve.
