Default un expected engine shutdowns

1999 dodge dakota pickup truck with a off road kit. 3.9 liters. 4x4 magnum slt. Manufactured 11 98.
The motor runs for a while, and shuts down. There are no codes . The check engine light comes on the odometer displays no bus. When I try to restart it. The fuel pump runs. It cranks and wants to catch the release of the key it dies in the run position. I am stumped,

Welcome to the forum Marty.

No bus means something is causing the CCD bus not to work. It could be a bad PCM, wiring problem, other module.

But, I'd look at the cam and crank position sensors first. They can short out the 5v supply.

Replaced the #1 oxygen sensor. Now it won't hold at idle after a 5 minutes ,it will start right away, if I slowly let off the gas pedal ,i can hear the fuel pump shut off, and it stalls the engine...what fun it is to use a 22mm box wrench with a come along. That was really really stuck...

Did you reset the PCM/computer? how pull the neg battery off for a few minutes then reconnect done.

A long hard hot drive is advised you may need to burn some crap out the exhaust.

The TPS can kill the 5v supply too.

What brand O2 sensor did you use? Don't say Bosch.

Default unexpected shut down

I'm back. My phone screwed up. .well the weather is nice. Changed a brake line, and bled the system. the 02 sensor is a bosh. that's what the parts store had..I drove around the block, and parked the 99 Dakota in it's space in my driveway. I was thinking that it was fixed, it quit again.
It was running. It died, no check engine light. the gages went down. the odometer read no bus..ten minutes later no start, just cranks. Turn the key to the ignition on no fuel pump, the lights came on the dash, no gages, the odometer works it was blinking, the check engine light came on, the odometer said no bus.

Well I was going to say you may have a bad coil but I think your PCM/computer is taking a dump, But it could be a wiring problem also.

The no bus problem negates the coil I think
