squealing noise

Busted motor mount allowing the engine to rock when under heavy load? That would cause fan to hit the shroud. Probably nothing to do with the wreck being as how you were hit from the back. Not a terribly expensive repair. I've had to replace them in all but 1 of the Dakotas that I have had.

Default 2002 3.9l 5 speed dakota sxt

I had the same problem with the squealing sound then no clutch and a line had blown off. Not saying it will solve your problem but i had to change out the master slave cylinder to fix the issue. Not one single problem since i changed it

Default blown line on tranny

My guess would be a clogged filter or screen. or your torque convertor pressure is not working correctly.
