Default 1997 3.9 vaccum problems

So i had problems with my exhaust for the last few days. One day it popped off got new clamps and its all fine. But after fixing it there is a rattle like there is a rock in the exhaust when starting after driving for a little bit itll go away. One day there isnt any rattling wonder why after driving a little bit check engine light gos on not telling me any code. Lookin in engine bay find a maybe vacuum by the headers i do not know where it gos

Looks too big to be a vacuum line. Might be a breather for the transmission or the transfer case. Follow it and see if it leads to either of those. If so its fine. I would move it away from the exhaust since they can puke oil if you overheat.

That's too big to be any kind of vent. That looks like 5/8 heater hose that would normally be going to the heater core connections on the firewall directly above where it is laying *OR* The 3/8" formed vacuum hose that goes from the brake booster to the throttle body. But judging based on hose size versus the 5/16 exhaust studs, I think that's 5/8 hose.

Should be a label somewhere under the hood that shows where all those lines go. Barring that, should be one in the service manual.

the one under the hood only tells me the serpentine belts and the repair manual doesn’t tell me where it gos either but there is a hole in the passenger side firewall that is the same size as that hose
