Default Lost fuel delivery

Hi all, already did the test and my fuel pump was going bad, so it is replaced it did not fix the problem. when the fuel line is primed it will start and run for a few mins then die, then i have to prime the line again. so thinking it is sucking air somewhere, well that some where do not even know where to start. i followed the fuel line and under the truck on the frame the line seem to go in to a black box then back out again, any thought on that.

Once again thank you all for the comments and advise

What do you mean "primed?" The pump is in the tank and it should pressurize the fuel system when you turn the key on. It can't "suck air."

Check the fuel pressure. Rent/borrow a gauge. It should be about 49 psi.

let me se if i can explain this better, the truck will run for 2 or 3 mins then dies. am thinking it is just using the fuel that is in the fuel line, by saying primed is me turning the key on and off running the pump and putting fuel back in the line, so thinking it is not holding pressure, but dont know to where to begin looking. the connector that plugs in the fuel maybe??? for what am seeing there is only 3 connector on the fuel line one at the pump one right under the fire wall area and one that goes in to the fuel rail. hope this help i know it is driving me crazy

It sounds more like a security system is shutting you down have you installed a new battery or disconnected it lately

Start with checking the fuel pressure. A new pump can be bad. The fuel pressure regulator is on the pump, in the tank.

It won't run with "fuel that is in the fuel line." Unlike an engine with a carburetor it requires fuel under pressure, 49 psi, from the fuel pump to run.

just for crap sake i put the old pump back in and hooked up the fuel pressure it pumps up then goes down slowly, also while doing this ( with the new pump installed i get no fuel coming out of the pump value where it hooks up to the fuel line) with the old pump i get fuel coming out of the value where the fuel line hooks up. Also does the fuel float have any thing to do with this, cuase it dose not work on the new pump. does not say how much fuel i have in the tank. once again thank you for all the help

Update the old pump only losses 2 psi in 20 min, and with the vehicle running the PSI drops fast and engine dies i contacted the shipper already for a return on the new pump and replacement

How frustrating to get a new part that doesn't work this is happening more and more these days new doesn't guarantee quality or that its a working part.
