Default 5.9 magnum swap or rebuild

I've got a 01 Dakota with 5.9 and she's been burning oil though the valve seals I believe and she's been low on oil quite a bit but I was wondering if it would be better to swap with a used motor which I would be doing myself or have it rebuilt at a shop. Any input with be helpful to make a decision

Cost would be my deciding factor.

What makes you say valve seals? And why would you put in a used motor that could have the same problem?

Its probably the plenum pan. Google is your friend.

I'm with Toby on this one. The plenum pan is a known issue. You can burn a lot of oil that way. Open the throttle plate and look down into the manifold.

Also as long as your valve guides are good its not all that hard to replace the seals without pulling the heads or pull the heads and have them rebuilt.

Thank you for everyone's input and I think I have made my decision and I'm going to rebuild the motor
