2000 4x4 dakota front axle noise
I have a 2000 dakota slt 5.9ltr quad cab 4x4.......i changed my front drverside axle. now when i put it in 4wd it doesnt make any noise until i torq on it a bit and i hear a slight poping noise...any ideas or did i maybe overlook something?
not sure which transfer case i have, how do i get that info? But its an auto transmission. On flat ground seems fine does it mostly on incline. not sure if there slack in the axle cause i didnt get it seated or what?
The NV231 is a part time 4wd transfer case. You can only use it in slippery conditions - no dry pavement.
There are two different depths of the half shaft retainer rings depending upon when your truck was built. Did you compare them when you bought them?
Are you sure the noise is from the front axle. Another source would be the front propeller shaft.
