Rear tire locking after stopping then"service 4x4" light comes on

Rear tire locking after stopping then"service 4x4" light comes on
I come to a stop sometimes and the rear tire seems to drag and chirp a little then the 4x4 light comes on and then a pop and the tire stops dragging and it goes out. Any ideas?
