I took the distributor out and I have replaced a lot of distributors before, but when it came to the dodge dakota 3.9, all I have to say is: what a joke! Way in the back of the engine, down allmost a foot and every thing in the way The moron that designed that should be hung.

I had to take it out. My son put a new cap on and he snapped the screw off in

OK the problem you may now face is even if you get it back in 100% correct the timing may be out of faze seen it happen a number of times on this forum.
You really don't want to mess with the distributor at all in a computer controlled car.

We will know shortly. It's all in. I'm going to put the plug wires on in a little while. I hope it goes ok. I really didn't want to take it out, but I had to.

It's really the fuel sync that gets messed up. Hopefully it's back in the same place or he may have odd performance issues with the truck.

I marked where the rotor pointed to and when I put it back in, that's where she was pointed. I took a 10 mile ride. It ran good, hopefully it will be ok. Does not know how to use punctuation and capital letters.
