Question concerning piston/rod orientation
I'm reassembleing my 2000 Dakota 4.7. Pistons are new and the machine shop installed them on the rods. The big end of the rod has an oil relief notch on one side of the rod. I'm wondering if this notch indicates a front or rear orientation in relation to the indicated front of the piston.

Welcome to the forum.
Hope this helps: The pistons are marked on the piston pin bore surface with an raised “F” indicating installation position. This mark must be pointing toward the front of engine on both cylinder banks. The connecting rod oil slinger slot faces the front of the engine
