Default Engine swap ideas

wondering what engines that could be swapped into my 4.7L magnum 2002 dodge dakota sport 4x4. Also want to know what I'd have to do extra like trans, axles, frame reinforcement, etc for the engine being swapped in.

With enough money, time and tools, anything can be swapped in. What are your plans? Mudding? Drag racing? Pulling? Daily driver? Help us help you by narrowing it down and providing some details.

i was thinking of making it into a truck that I'd drive daily but be able to race people. My dream was to put a 408 stroker into the truck but I'd also like to know what else i can swap into it.

Race, as in a drag strip? Circle track? Mug bogging?

Not really worried about the cost. I was thinking of putting dana 60 axles in the front and rear of the truck. Just wondering what engine and trans would be a good goal to work towards. For example a mopar 408 stroker with a 727 trans or a 383 stroker with a 700r4 trans. I also like the cummins idea.

Being a 4.7, you are starting behind the 8 ball. You can's swap in a pushrod magnum without gutting the engine bay and starting from scratch with a pushrod magnum wiring harness.

To swap in a pushrod magnum (stock everything) is close to $6,000
To swap in a Hemi (stock everything), you're looking close to $10,000.
To swap in a pushrod magnum stroker/all-out motor, around $12,000
To swap in a Hemi all-out motor, around $16,000

To swap in a 4BT, probably $8,000 to $12,000
To swap in a 6BT, it's practically impossible. The frame is too weak in the front. By the time you reinforced everything, you'd be close to $15,000

I've worked & billed on $50,000+ custom builds at a shop I was the GM of. I know what (stuff) costs when you start tacking labor hours and fabrication materials on.

Any work on the truck will most likely be done by me and my teacher at my Votech school. Would I need a different transmission and/or transfer case? Also is there any other engine swap option? A gas motor would be great but I'd also like the 4bt idea and like to know some more about what I'd need for it.
