97 crank no start

Default 97 crank no start

So ive read and read with no luck...i have a 97 dakota 5.2 5 speed 4wd i have replaced the crank sensor 5 times, has new distributor, plugs, wires, coil, fuel pump, and most recent i replaced the computer.....had a mechanic friend check all wiring and said it was ok....i put old coil back in andit started but missea and backfires like crazy and is still throwin a crank sensor code with a brand new crank sensor in it....any help would be greatly appreciated

What brand crank sensor? If it's duralast.... I suspect right there is your problem.

Get one from the dealer, install it. Wouldn't be surprised if it didn't solve the problem.

I got all 5 from autozone....jus hard to believe all 5 were bad

Not necessarily 'bad', just our trucks don't like 'em. If everything else tests good, that leaves the sensor itself.

Which code are you getting. There's 3 different ones for Crank sensor I believe.
