Question How to tighten emergency / parking brake

Today we replaced brake shoes and wheel cylinder on both sides but somehow parking brake is loose

even if I push all the way to floor ...truck still moves slowly...what did we do wrong?

My friend said it will adjust on its own but I drove back and forth but still no change ..

Is there something we were supposed to and we did not?

Did you adjust the rear brakes manually after putting in the new shoes?

My friend did it...I was not giving enough attention...but I dont think he adjusted...how do you adjust?

do we need take drum out again to adjust ?

Brakes work fine..its just the parking brake that is kinda loose and goes all the way to floor

You can adjust the rears with the drums in place. Jack it up, pull the wheels/tires, and there should be a slot on the bottom of the backing plate you can stick a screwdriver thru, to turn the star wheel. (the adjuster.) I like to adjust them to the point that they are just starting to rub a LITTLE bit.

If the ebrake still doesn't wanna play nice, there should be some provision for adjustment on the cable itself somewhere. Expect it to be thoroughly rusted up.
