mine is a four wheel drive, automatic with the 5.2? Will a 200 ram 2500 from a 5.9 fit mine? Really appreciate any help you can give me.

What year is the potential donor? If it is 96 or newer, should be the same trans. 2000 and up use different electronics though, so, those would need swapped.

 

the one I’m looking at is in a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9 and four wheel drive. Mine is a 1997 Dodge Dakota with the 5.2 and four wheel drive. You mentioned swapping the electrical. What does that entailed?

Another thought/question is this. If I chose to rebuild my tranny instead, would the master rebuild kits have everything I need? I do know that when I pulled my torque converter off, the outer spline was worn down completely got about half to three quarters of a inch on the tranny end. Is that a part I can get at a junk yard?

The 2000 trans would need the governor pressure sensor, and sensor, plus the retainer clip for the solenoid changed to the 99 and older versions, after that, it would be fine.

One other thing you would need to look at though is, where does the shifter for the t-case mount. On the full size trucks, 97 and down, the shifter mounted to the trans, 98 and up, it mounted to the body, and there weren't any bosses on the transmission case to bolt the shifter too...... So, check that before spending any money.

You could probably get that shaft from the junkyard, but, I suspect that won't really want to sell JUST that part, might have to buy the whole trans.

Master kit should have everything you need. Excluding any 'hard parts' that may need to be replaced.
