Default Rust

There’s some rust forming on the fender of my dakota. Also, there is some on the bottom of my doors. I was thinking about sanding it down and painting over it? But i’m not sure if I’d be better off to do that or get fender flares. I heard fender flares will make it rust mode. What do I do?

Fix the rust first.

More than likely, if you are seeing it on the bottom of the doors you have significant rust damage under the paint.

Rust that you see means possible rust on the underlay as well. You can make it as pretty as possible but unless you attack the rust from the underside of the same area it will only come through again.

Rust on the doors likely started inside the doors.... pull a panel, and have a look.
