Default 1997 Dodge Dakota 5.2 comparability
hey all. I have a 1997 Dakota with the 5.2 and 4x4. What Transmission’s will bolt up to it and work without changing stuff out? Any help is appreciated.

What transmission do you have in it now? (auto? manual?)

Believe it is the 44RE. Automatic. It has the crank sensor sticks down a notch in between bell housing and engine.

Pretty sure you can replace it with another 44RE from similar year trucks...... Could also stuff in a 46RE from 96-97 full-size truck..... Should bolt right in, and hook right up.
