This is reminding me more and more why I like GM transmissions...specifically manual valve body ones.

The (5)45RFE is one picky SOB.

Good lord. Such a complicated engine that it takes over a dozen screenshots just for hydraulic flow..... sheesh.

Update: I took it into a AAMCO shop nearby with good ratings and asked them to look at it. $300 later and it's shifting great! Apparently it was burned, cut, and otherwise mangled wires as well as replacing a speed sensor (I replaced both of them already though just a few weeks ago...). The guy who did the work wasn't there so I couldn't pick his brain, but I'm happy with the result.

Now, another issue! I hear a scary banging/ticking coming from somewhere in the engine that keeps pace with the RPMs. It sounds like this:

Apparently that Jeep ended up throwing a rod soon after the video was made. What do you guys thing?

Other than that, my list of error codes is much smaller, limited to just

Current Fault Log
------------------
P0135: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

Pending Fault Log
------------------
P0141: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0442: Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)

Historic Fault Log
------------------
ECU reports no historic faults
Other discovered fault codes
(possibly pending, current or manufacturer specific)
----------------------------------------------------
ECU reports no other fault codes logged

End of report

After idling for a time, the clicking stops. I wonder if it's a manifold? I've read a few places this might be that. I'm going to poke around a bit in there to see what I can see.

If it stops after awhile idling, sounds like oil-related lifter rattle. Try running seafoam or gumout multi-system (my choice) in the crankcase. Put 1oz per quart of oil, which in a 3.9L should be 4oz (can't recall your size engine). Run it 50 or so miles, then change the oil. I know the powertech engines, 4.7L V8 and 3.7L V6 have problems with sludge/oil delivery from smaller passages. Otherwise, it couldn't really hurt, besides exposing oil leaks.

Default Exhaust for your 4.7l

My truck was bagged to the ground and I went over a railroad and my muffler came off. After a lot of research I found that the magnaflow non baffled exhaust gave me more mpg a much deeper and meaner sounds. An amazing idle sound and more get up and go do to the tuning of back pressure

Actually, that is only the case for those that don't practice maintenance or check oil, running crappy oil to boot....which I guess could happen to any engine. Run a decent synthetic, keep the oil level up and change it now and then. You won't have an issue. First thing I did when I got my truck, was run some motor flush thru it and change out the conventional oil to full syn. Now I run 0W-20.
