Windshield Wiper Issues
Hello everyone. I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota and the windshield wipers are not working. In fact, I bought the truck with the wipers not working. I replaced the motor as there was current running to it but none from the motor onward. That didn't solve the issue as I thought it would. Is there a current constantly flowing to the motor? And what do you all think the issue would be? The fuse for the wiper motor isn't blown, but there is no current running to that either. Thank you all.

Have you checked the fuse first?
There are several circuits to the wiper motor. Some are hot when the key is "on" or in "accessory" but not all.
You should see 12 volts on Pin 1 at the motor, a dark blue wire, all the time the key is on regardless of what speed it is set. You should also have 12 volts at pin 5, violet wire when in low or pin 6, red with gray tracer in high.
These do not involve the CTM or the "delay" portion at all.

Where is the power coming from then? Is it backfeeding from a bad ground?
Check the ground to the motor, G113. It's the black wire, pin #4 at the motor.
Lots of stuff uses G113, such as parking lights, cluster, the horn, anti-lock brakes, etc.

DakDan may be right, that's what I'm going to check later. They're may be a bad ground. The wiper relay is good, I checked that as well and even tested a new one laying around. I'll follow the ground exiting the motor, but it goes straight into a harness from there. That may be a can of worms for someone like me

I tested the ground, the G113 bolted to the inner fender. It has continuity of around 6.8 volts. Would that help in diagnosing the problem?

This is opposite of what is happening with your truck but I have a 2001 Dakota and the wipers stay on all the time. The only way to get them to shut off is to pull the fuse. I have replaced the multi function switch but it did not change anything. Anyone have any idea? Thank you
