Need Information
Hello all, I am looking for information on the 4.7 in a 2004 4x4. I have been told that I must replace the engine with an engine from another 4 x 4 from 2004 only. Any help would be appreciated.

The "problem" you'd have with some earlier years are the tone rings, one on the crank and the other on the cam. You have the NGC pcm which will have 4 connectors. Prior to about the '03 model year, it depends upon what model vehicle the 4.7 came from, they only had 3 connectors, a JTEC pcm. If you have access to the vehicle make sure it has 4 connectors. Otherwise, to convert the engine you need to pull the crank.
Later years should work as well. A good boneyard should have an interchange manual.
There is a mount point on the 4x4 version to support the front axle.
