Default 1998 Dakota Fuel Gauge not working

New fuel pump, which has the sending unit built in, still the fuel gauge works sometimes and does not most of the time. Needs some help.

Welcome to the forum Ryan.

The fuel gauge connects to the PCM and provides a signal over the CCD bus (network) to the instrument cluster. Check all connections at the pump and PCM.

Unfortunately, I don't have wiring diagrams for a '98. In '00, the last year for the CCD bus, it would be Connector 1 pin 4 for the sensor ground and Connector 3 pin 26 for the fuel level sensor signal.
