Default Factory radio on the fritz!

I'm hoping this is an easy fix but here we go...

My factory radio will not maintain reception! Let me explain best I can. The display cycles the radio station selected & the time continuously, it makes a clicking sound, and no tunes! Off to the left of said display it shows FM over ST (Like a fraction, without the line.) when it decides to work, when it decides not to work those indicators are gone and all I get is the time on the display and silence or the radio station selected & the time cycling continuously, makes a clicking sound, and as stated no tunes!

Before assuming that by throwing in a aftermarket unit the matter would be resolved does anyone have any insight?

I don't know model numbers or nothing but AM/FM w/ cassette. In-fact the audible click mentioned above is more of the sound it makes when a cassette is switching sides...

You can probably find one at a boneyard, plug and play. Or, get a kit and swap it out.

Unless you want to repair it, toss it. It's not worth the expense.

I agree it's not worth the expense, and since I've found it online how simple it is to just tilt the wheel to the furthest downward position also pulling the shift lever down and just pulling/prying off the trim I'll be putting in an aftermarket unit as soon as I get a wiring harness. I'm hoping that the issue is in just the factory radio.
