99 dakota 2wd. Want to make it 4wd
Does anyone have any clue how I can make it 4 wheel drive like we're too start? I know I need to get a four-wheel drive shaft and put it to the rear end but what else do I need how hard is it to do? Is it really worth it or should I not even bother? Please answer quickly we have snow coming this weekend and I slide all over in the rain. Thank you
You need better tires.
Converting to 4wd would be a nightmare. It would end up being cheaper/easier to just buy a 4x4, and go from there. The front is independent suspension, so ALL the mounts and such are different. Lot of cutting/welding involved. Unless you do solid axle conversion..... that's easier, but still, a lot of work.

Okay thank you. I found the same truck just a 2004 500 online all it needs is a water pump and I just changed mine in my truck and they took me 2 hours so I think I'm just going to buy that. Also it has less miles than mine only 61,000
