Default Resistor went out

I had the blower resistor misfuction again where it works on high only.
On my other dakota in the past all of the settings went out including the high
What is different on these that one still has high on direct wire to battery vs all going out? .
Is the blower motor bad on the one that shorted out every setting maybe?
I saw in one post a guy had used the one that only had high for 3 years. Ive used mine on high 2 months.
I will be replacing it again ,including new wiring but wandered what is different between those 2 [one working on high still vs all burnt out]
Thanks!

If you keep burning out resistors, then your blower motor is probably drawing too much current. Change the motor.

Not sure, but maybe the resistor composition is more resistant to frying on the high setting for whatever reason. You already know the definition of insanity, so why keep replacing just the resistor? Search threads and you'll find that many times the root cause is the motor if resistor and harness keeps blowing.

I saw where they were both replaced an it blew again this motor overdraws from what ive read.
I wonder if a lower drawing motor would be better?

The wire connection to the resistor is the weak link. Take it out and solder the wires.

If its not the blower than you may have a poor connection or corroded wire you need to inspect them very closely.
