I just bought a 97 Dodge Dakota v6 automatic from a police auction and the previous owner had bypassed the neutral safety switch. so I installed a new switch and replaced the wiring harness so it's all back to factory however the truck will still only start in reverse. is there a certain procedure to replacing the switch like the truck has to be in neutral or something when you do the replacement? All of the linkages work fine and I can move the transmission parts etc everything looks perfect.
