Bottoming out
about normal ride height
Bottomed out 🙄
I just did lower and upper control arms on my 2004 Dakota 4x4. My front end is bottoming out. I tried adjusting the torsion bar and nothing. I didn’t tighten the pivot bolts just like the Haynes manual said. Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Please help

I tried this so far.
Put the torsion screw all the way up (from what I read so far this makes the height go up), so I was hoping it would be to high. But nothing, still bottoming out.
Is it the opposite ? If the screw is lower does that raise it ? I tried putting it almost all the way down, but it wasn’t under a load. Maybe I was supposed to load it ? Because if I drop the screw, the anchor kind of just dangles.
Also, are the only other adjustments on the lower control arm itself. Meaning, the 2 pivot bolts. Should I tighten the front and leave the back loose. I saw a youtube video of the torsion bar adjustment and he only loosened the back screw.
Then adjusted the torsion bar under load.
Thanks for your reply

There should be some load on them, even when the front tires are off the ground. Likely you just need to 're-clock' the keys. Jack up the front end, both tires off the ground, suspension at full droop. Got enough room between the keys, and the whatevertheyarecalled that they use as stops? (I think there is a beveled washer that is supposed to go between the adjuster bolts, and the aforementioned 'things' as well.) See if you can rotate the key so there is less clearance there.

Thanks everyone! It was the torsion key. It was off by one position. 🙄🙄🙄... yep I learned something new. Learned all about how torsion bars work.
Now... Im wondering what’s the stock ride height ? 😂..
Im at 37” from floor to fender on the driver side. 38” on passenger side. I called Dodge and they brushed me off. Im guessing 37” is right, but with the new suspension I’m not really sure.
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!
