Default central timing module

I think the CTM is going bad according to what I have searched here. The dome lights on my 2001 Dakota sport with the 4.7 dont shut off all the time on their own neither do the headlights. Not a real big issue unless I forget to turn them off. Well the last time I drove the truck 3 days ago I did not make sure the dome lights were off. Battery was not dead this morning but not enough power to start. When I opened the door I knew right away when the dome lights came on very dim. Is that the CTM. I cant find a part number. Ebay listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/01-04-Dodge...dc9WeV&vxp=mtr Is that the beast?

Have you tried a full reset by pulling the battery cables and turning the key to start position? Try that before you go buying stuff. Also, that thumbwheel switch could be going bad too.

I'll try that tonight. The headlights have never auto turned off since I got it last year. I assume same module. I have just put up with it. If a 50$ part would fix I would do it.

Disconnected the battery overnight with the key on. Fully charged the battery. Dome light will still not go off after the door has been opened and closed. You can turn it off with the switch. Does it sound like that CTM module then? I can keep on just leaving the switch off but that also controls the dash lights and sometimes I will likely forget to put the switch in the off position again.

How about a bad door switch - most likely the drivers side? They're part of the door latch.

As a temp fix pull the Dome light bulb and or replace with an LED bulb, they use way less power till you get the problem fixed.

That's the only LED bulb I have in my Dakota I have accidentally left my dome light on a few times with no ill affect's.

Just be careful pulling the dome light fixture out Im not sure if your 2001 is like my 98 its kind of weird how you remove it you can break it accidentally.
